The Elephant Celebes, also known simply as Celebes, is an oil on canvas painting made in 1921 by the German Dadaist and Surrealist artist Max Ernst, measuring about 125.4 by 107.9 centimeters. It depicts a giant mechanical elephant as its central subject, combining the dreamlike atmosphere of Surrealism with the collage sensibility of Dada, and is regarded as one of the earliest masterpieces of Surrealist painting in the tradition associated with Giorgio de Chirico.
