Antonio Canova

Sculptors

Antonio Canova was an Italian Neoclassical sculptor who lived from 1757 to 1822 and is often regarded as the greatest of the Neoclassical artists. Famous for his marble sculptures, his work drew inspiration from both the Baroque and the classical revival while avoiding what critics describe as the melodrama of the former and the cold artificiality of the latter.
