Daniel Lindtmayer

Printmakers, Calligraphers and Graphic Artists

Daniel Lindtmayer was a Swiss artist recorded by the Metropolitan Museum of Art as born in Schaffhausen in 1552 and dying in Lucerne in 1606 or 1607. The museum holds his pen and black ink drawing Joseph Sold by His Brothers into Egypt, dated 1574, a biblical subject drawn from the Book of Genesis story of Joseph. The atlas records him as the named draftsman of that drawing, which the divinity atlas lists among its sacred images, so that the work can be traced to its maker instead of left as an unattributed item.
