Impressionist Composers

Composers associated with musical Impressionism, the French style of colorful harmony, shifting texture and suggestion rather than plain statement, which both composers themselves rejected as a label. A composer belongs here when the cited article links the person to Impressionism. It excludes the Romantic composers. Their music favors color, atmosphere, unresolved harmonies and scenes from nature and dreams over formal argument, and a composer is placed here only where the cited article itself links the person to Impressionism.
