Realist and Naturalist Dramatists

Playwrights who brought realism and naturalism to the stage from the later nineteenth century, treating ordinary people and social problems with plain speech. A playwright belongs here when the cited article or its infobox names realism or naturalism. It excludes the Absurdist dramatists who reacted against them. Their plays set ordinary rooms, families and social questions on stage with natural speech, and are the base from which later modern theatre grew, and a playwright is placed here by the movement the cited article names.
