Pasquale Cati was an Italian Mannerist painter, born around 1550 in Jesi, who spent most of his career in Rome. He worked as a follower of Michelangelo and later under the influence of Federico Zuccari, producing frescoes for prominent Roman churches including San Luigi dei Francesi, San Lorenzo in Panisperna and Santa Maria in Trastevere. He is particularly known for a large scale painting depicting attendees at the Council of Trent, and under Pope Gregory XIII he contributed ceiling decorations to the Galleria Geografica. The art historian Luigi Lanzi described him as an inexhaustible painter of his age, though somewhat affected. He died around 1620.
