Betty Woodman was an American ceramic artist who lived from 1930 to 2018, known for brightly colored, large-scale ceramic works that combined vessel forms with painting and sculpture, often drawing on historical pottery traditions from ancient Greek, Chinese Tang-dynasty and Italian Baroque sources. In 2006 she became the first living artist to receive a solo ceramics exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
