Home›Ceramic, Glass and Metal Artists›BirthplaceBrowse ByBirthplaceBirthplace groups artists by the city or country where each one was born. Wikipedia notes that the use of the term "artist" to describe writers "is valid, but less common, and mostly restricted to contexts such as critics' reviews," showing that even the label itself can depend on background and convention. Browsing by birthplace shows where the people behind a body of work actually came from.FactsBirthplaceSourcesComments (0)Reader Challenges (0)FactsComparisonCore Arts DisciplineWell-attestedVisual Arts 1BirthplaceFilter Results35 entriesAdmission YearAll1788 (1)1846 (1)1912 (2)Area (sq km)All25.7 (1)47.87 (1)78.26 (1)102.32 (1)125.2 (1)143.01 (1)414.57 (1)414.78 (1)572 (1)600.65 (1)607.44 (1)696.1 (1)715.48 (1)755.09 (1)825.69 (1)827.83 (1)1223.59 (1)1290.6 (1)1439 (1)1572 (1)2754.97 (1)12,869 (1)14,356 (1)43,094 (1)83,879 (1)145,747 (1)242,500 (1)295,254 (1)302,069 (1)314,915 (1)357,022 (1)632,702.3 (1)9,866,632 (1)Founding YearAll300 BCE (1)59 BCE (1)12 BCE (1)47 (1)421 (1)794 (1)808 (1)1550 (1)1624 (1)1703 (1)1776 (1)1781 (1)1822 (1)1837 (1)1853 (1)1899 (1)1924 (1)1997 (1)Founding Year Range EndAll-1 (1)1100 (1)1997 (1)Founding Year Range StartAll-100 (1)1001 (1)1997 (1)Independence or Founding YearAll1776 (1)1801 (1)1861 (1)PopulationAll93 (1)84,523 (1)103,671 (1)115,369 (1)249,466 (1)293,771 (1)362,353 (1)508,090 (1)519,127 (1)675,647 (1)694,392 (1)826,079 (1)1,431,419 (1)1,538,262 (1)1,973,896 (1)2,028,499 (1)2,125,498 (1)2,746,388 (1)3,238,387 (1)3,688,496 (1)3,898,747 (1)4,397,073 (1)5,601,911 (1)6,001,008 (1)7,498,100 (1)7,623,818 (1)8,804,190 (1)9,070,093 (1)9,089,736 (1)9,219,113 (1)58,900,000 (1)69,081,996 (1)69,414,000 (1)83,497,147 (1)340,587,000 (1)Show ResultsBrowseCompareSelect all 35ArizonaBirthplace1 entryAustriaBirthplace1 entryBostonBirthplace1 entryChelmsfordBirthplace1 entryChicagoBirthplace1 entryConnecticutBirthplace1 entryDenmarkBirthplace1 entryFlorenceBirthplace1 entryFranceBirthplace2 entriesGermanyBirthplace1 entryHamburgBirthplace1 entryHelsinkiBirthplace1 entryHong KongBirthplace1 entryIowaBirthplace1 entryIsle of ManBirthplace1 entryItalyBirthplace1 entryKansas CityBirthplace1 entryKawasakiBirthplace1 entryKyotoBirthplace2 entriesLondonBirthplace3 entriesLos AngelesBirthplace1 entryLyonBirthplace1 entryNairobiBirthplace1 entryNancyBirthplace1 entryNew MexicoBirthplace1 entryNew York CityBirthplace2 entriesSaint PetersburgBirthplace1 entrySan FranciscoBirthplace1 entryShenyangBirthplace1 entryStrasbourgBirthplace1 entryThurningBirthplace1 entryUnited KingdomBirthplace1 entryUnited StatesBirthplace7 entriesVeniceBirthplace2 entriesViennaBirthplace1 entrySources1.
