Sir Antony Mark David Gormley is a British sculptor born in 1950 who works in sculpture, installation art and large-scale public artworks, often casting forms from his own body to explore the human body as a place rather than an object. He won the Turner Prize in 1994 and was knighted in 2014, and his best-known public works include the Angel of the North in Gateshead, Another Place on Crosby Beach near Liverpool, and the multipart installation Event Horizon, shown in London, New York, Sao Paulo and Hong Kong.
