Fancy Free is a ballet composed in 1944 by Leonard Bernstein, with choreography by Jerome Robbins, scenery by Oliver Smith, costumes by Kermit Love, and lighting by Ronald Bates, premiered by Ballet Theatre. It premiered on April 18, 1944 at the old Metropolitan Opera House in New York, and it later provided the basis for the musical On the Town.
