Anna Pavlovna Pavlova (1881 to 1931) was a Russian prima ballerina, a principal artist of the Imperial Russian Ballet and of Sergei Diaghilev's Ballets Russes. She is most recognized for creating the role of The Dying Swan, and, leading her own company, for being the first ballerina to tour the world, carrying ballet to South America, India, Mexico and Australia among other places it had rarely or never been seen.
