Artists whose primary practice is writing dramatic works for the stage, from classical Greek tragedy through the modern theatre, whose text is realized in performance by others. Belongs here: playwrights and dramatists across every era and tradition, and literary figures whose major work includes drama intended for staged performance. Does not belong here: dancers, choreographers, actors and theatre directors whose primary practice is performance or staging rather than dramatic writing, who are grouped under Dance and Theatre Performers, and authors of prose or poetry with no dramatic work, who belong to the Literature atlas rather than here.
