Kay Sekimachi is an American fiber artist, born in 1926, known for intricate multi-layered woven forms, including a series of transparent hanging sculptures woven from monofilament in the 1960s. Trained at the California College of Arts and Crafts, she has spent decades expanding the technical vocabulary of woven fiber sculpture, moving between loom-based weaving and other fiber and paper-based techniques over the course of her career.
