Marianne Straub (1909 to 1994) was a Swiss-born British textile designer who became one of the leading commercial textile designers in Britain from the 1940s through the 1960s. Born in Amriswil, Switzerland, she trained at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Zurich and at Bradford Technical College, and worked to bridge handcraft and industrial production, developing designs on handlooms before adapting them for factory manufacture. She designed for firms including Warner and Sons and for clients such as London Transport, BEA and the QE2, and created the Festival of Britain textile Surrey. She was appointed a Royal Designer for Industry in 1972 and received an OBE for her contribution to textile weaving.
