Kimsooja, born in 1957 in Daegu, South Korea, is a multi-disciplinary conceptual artist who works between homes in New York City, Paris and Seoul. Her practice combines performance, film, photography and site-specific installation using textile, light and sound, investigating questions concerning the conditions of humanity while engaging issues of aesthetics, culture, politics and the environment, and she has exhibited at major museums and institutions worldwide including the Centre Pompidou-Metz, the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, MoMA PS1 and the Museum Reina Sofia.
