A 1958 American psychological thriller directed by Alfred Hitchcock, starring James Stewart as a retired detective drawn into a plot of obsession, identity and vertigo-induced acrophobia. Its dolly-zoom camera effect, devised to convey the protagonist's disorientation, became a widely imitated technique known ever after as the 'Vertigo effect.'
