The Embarkation for Cythera is a painting by the French painter Jean-Antoine Watteau, also known as Voyage to Cythera or Pilgrimage to the Isle of Cythera. Watteau submitted the work to the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture as his reception piece in 1717, and it is now held in the Louvre in Paris. A second version, sometimes called Pilgrimage to Cythera to distinguish it, was painted around 1718 or 1719 and is held at Charlottenburg Palace in Berlin, elaborating on a simpler depiction of the same subject Watteau had painted around 1709 or 1710, now in Frankfurt. The painting was featured in the 1980 BBC Two series 100 Great Paintings.
