Girl with Balloon

Girl with Balloon is a stencil image created by the street artist Banksy, first appearing as a mural in London beginning in 2002, showing a young girl reaching out toward a red heart-shaped balloon drifting away from her on the wind. Original versions were sprayed at sites including Shoreditch and the South Bank near Waterloo Bridge, though none of the street murals survive today; Banksy has also produced print and painted versions, including variants addressing the Israeli West Bank barrier, the Syrian refugee crisis, and the 2017 UK general election. A framed print of the image partially shredded itself moments after selling at a Sotheby's auction in 2018 and was retitled Love Is in the Bin.
