The Vale of Rest is an 1858 to 1859 painting by the English Pre-Raphaelite artist John Everett Millais, depicting a twilight graveyard scene prominently featuring two nuns. Millais conceived it as a pendant to his earlier painting Spring and considered it his favourite of all his own works.
