Realist and Impressionist Scenes

Scenes of ordinary life painted in the realist and impressionist manner, which took funerals, interiors, fields and modern city subjects as serious themes for painting and treated them with direct observation and no idealizing. The group includes the painting by Gustave Courbet of a funeral in a small town, the American painting of a woman in a field and the modern reworking of an Olympia by Paul Cezanne.
