Don Juan and the Commendatore

Don Juan and the Commendatore is a painting by the Spanish artist Francisco Goya, one of a series of six small cabinet paintings, each about forty three by thirty centimeters, sharing witchcraft as a common theme though not a single continuous story. The series was commissioned for the Dukes of Osuna''s summer residence at the Alameda de Osuna and also included Witches'' Sabbath, Witches'' Flight, The Incantation, The Bewitched Man and The Witches'' Kitchen. Four of the six survive in public collections and one in a private collection, but Don Juan and the Commendatore itself is considered lost.
