Hindu and Buddhist Mythology

Paintings depicting a deity, story or figure from Hindu or Buddhist tradition: the Hindu pantheon and its epics, or the life and teaching of the Buddha and bodhisattva figures across the Buddhist artistic traditions of South and East Asia. This is a small group in this atlas today, kept separate from Norse and Other Mythology because Hindu and Buddhist subject matter forms its own major, continuously practiced tradition distinct from the smaller and more varied mythologies gathered there.
