Trinity (Andrei Rublev)

The Trinity is an icon painted by the Russian artist Andrei Rublev in the early 15th century, showing the three angels who visited Abraham at the Oak of Mamre in the Book of Genesis, read as a symbolic image of the Holy Trinity. It was made to honor Saint Sergius of Radonezh for the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius monastery near Moscow and is widely regarded as Rublev's most famous work and the single most famous icon in Russian art. It was held at the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow from 1929 until 2024, when it was moved to the Old Cathedral of the Trinity Lavra.
