Surrealist Painters

Painters of Surrealism, the movement founded in the 1920s that drew on dream imagery, chance and the unconscious mind to create irrational, often dreamlike compositions, including its founding circle and later painters working explicitly in a Surrealist mode. This group excludes painters whose work is merely described as dreamlike or fantastical without documented participation in or direct descent from the Surrealist movement itself, who belong instead by their own period and style under a different group.
