Alfredo Sinclair was a Panamanian artist who lived from 1914 to 2014, born in Panama City and trained at the National School of Painting under Humberto Ivaldi before studying at the School of Fine Arts in Buenos Aires. Known as the father of abstract painting in Panama, he began with semi-abstract urban and animal imagery before moving toward near-complete abstraction in the 1970s, and later founded the School of Fine Arts at the University of Panama; his daughter Olga Sinclair is also a noted Panamanian artist.
