Bartolomeo della Gatta

Bartolomeo della Gatta, born Pietro di Antonio Dei, was an Italian Florentine painter, illuminator and architect who lived from 1448 to 1502. The son of a goldsmith, he became a monk in the Order of Camaldoli in 1468 and took the name Bartolomeo, later serving as abbot of the abbey of San Clemente in Arezzo. Around 1481 he was summoned to Rome to contribute to the fresco cycle on the walls of the Sistine Chapel, collaborating with Luca Signorelli.
