Fra Diamante

Fra Diamante (about 1430 to about 1498) was an Italian Renaissance painter and Carmelite friar born in Prato who became the close collaborator of Filippo Lippi. He assisted Lippi on major fresco cycles, most significantly at Prato Cathedral, and after Lippi death in 1469 he completed his master unfinished frescoes at Spoleto Cathedral, finishing the project in 1470. Following Lippi death, Diamante also took responsibility for raising the artist young son, the future painter Filippino Lippi. He was nearly seventy when the Spoleto frescoes were completed, and the exact date of his own death remains uncertain, with surviving records pointing to around 1498.
