Matteo Giovanetti

Matteo Giovanetti was an Italian painter born around 1322 in Viterbo and active until his death in 1368. He worked primarily in Avignon as a member of the papal court, and although he is often associated with the school of Simone Martini for stylistic similarities, there is no evidence the two ever met; it is more likely he adopted a Sienese style through his training in Italy.
