Nikoloz Pirosmanashvili, known as Niko Pirosmani, was a Georgian painter who rose to prominence only after his death. Relatively poor for most of his life, he worked a variety of ordinary jobs while painting rustic, everyday scenes of Georgia during his lifetime, and he has become one of the country's most beloved artistic figures.
