A photographic portrait of a young Pashtun refugee, Sharbat Gula, taken by the American photographer Steve McCurry in 1984 at a refugee camp in Pakistan and published on the cover of National Geographic in 1985. Her striking green eyes made the image one of the most recognized photographic portraits of the twentieth century.
