On the Internet, nobody knows you're a dog is a single-panel cartoon drawn by Peter Steiner and published in the July 5, 1993 issue of the American magazine The New Yorker. It shows a large dog seated on a chair at a desk with a paw on a computer keyboard, speaking the caption's words to a smaller dog sitting on the floor nearby. The caption passed into wider use as an adage about the anonymity of internet communication.
