Portrait of a Man in Red Chalk

Portrait of a Man in Red Chalk is a drawing made around 1510 and now held in the Royal Library in Turin. It is widely, though not universally, accepted by scholars as a self-portrait Leonardo da Vinci made of himself in his later years, and it has become one of the best-known images used to represent Leonardo as an archetypal Renaissance polymath, even though some historians still dispute whether the sitter is really Leonardo himself.
