Marisol Escobar

Marisol Escobar, known simply as Marisol, was a Venezuelan-American sculptor who lived from 1930 to 2016, born in Paris to Venezuelan parents and based for her career in New York City. She held United States, Venezuelan and French nationality and became world famous in the mid-1960s before lapsing into relative obscurity within a decade, continuing to create artwork and returning to prominence in the early twenty-first century, capped by a major 2014 retrospective organized by the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art.
