Alberto Giacometti

Alberto Giacometti was a Swiss sculptor, painter and draftsman who lived from 1901 to 1966 and is regarded as one of the most important sculptors of the twentieth century. Influenced by Cubism and Surrealism and preoccupied with existential and phenomenological questions about the human condition, he worked mainly in Paris from 1922 onward. After the Second World War he created his most famous works, extremely tall and slender bronze figurines reflecting his own individual viewing experience of distance and presence.
