Lee Ufan

Sculptors

Lee Ufan, born in 1936 in what is now South Korea, is a Korean sculptor, painter and theorist who became the principal thinker behind Mono-ha, the School of Things that emerged in Japan in the late 1960s. His sculptures set raw industrial and natural materials, stone, steel, glass, in deliberate relation to one another and to their surrounding space, favoring the encounter between material and viewer over depiction or expression.
