Parade is a one act ballet composed between 1916 and 1917 for Sergei Diaghilev's Ballets Russes, choreographed by Leonide Massine to music by Erik Satie with a scenario by Jean Cocteau. It premiered on May 18, 1917 at the Theatre du Châtelet in Paris with costumes and sets designed by Pablo Picasso and the orchestra conducted by Ernest Ansermet. The collaboration between Cocteau, Satie, Picasso and Massine made the ballet an early landmark of modernist stage design.
