A large painting by the Spanish court painter Diego Velázquez, completed in 1656, depicting the young Infanta Margaret Theresa surrounded by her attendants, with the artist himself shown at his easel and the king and queen visible reflected in a mirror. Its complex play of perspective, gaze and pictorial space has made it one of the most analyzed paintings in Western art history.
