Hubert van Eyck

Painters

Hubert van Eyck was an Early Netherlandish painter and the older brother of the renowned Jan van Eyck, with two further siblings, Lambert and Margareta, also painters. Because no single work can be clearly attributed to him with certainty, assessing his achievement remains highly uncertain, though for centuries he held the reputation of an outstanding founding figure of Early Netherlandish painting.
