Duane Hanson

Sculptors

Duane Hanson was an American sculptor who lived from 1925 to 1996, born in Minnesota and based for most of his career in South Florida. He was known for his life-sized realistic sculptures of people, cast from human models in materials including polyester resin, fiberglass, Bondo and bronze, and his sculptures often provided political and social commentary and satire. His works are held in the permanent collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Smithsonian.
