Emile Galle was a French glass artist and furniture designer who lived from 1846 to 1904, a leading figure of the Art Nouveau movement and founder of the Ecole de Nancy. He is known for ornate glassware combining innovative techniques such as cameo glass with naturalistic floral and insect motifs, and his glassworks in Nancy became one of the most celebrated decorative arts workshops in Europe at the turn of the twentieth century.
