Jacques Katmor

Jacques Katmor, born Jacques Mory Katmor in Cairo, Egypt on September 4, 1938, was an Israeli experimental filmmaker, painter and multimedia artist known for his bohemian, countercultural and anarchical leanings. Born into a wealthy Jewish family, he studied art in Paris and Switzerland before immigrating to Israel in 1960, and he served in the Israeli Artillery Corps during the Six Day War. During the 1960s and 1970s he organized an artist collective called The Third Eye, influenced by Timothy Learys ideas, and directed the 1969 avant garde film A Womans Case, his most notable work, which was not commercially successful; he also created television programs featuring prominent Israeli artists. He later lived for years in Cambodia, Canada, Thailand and Amsterdam before returning to Israel in 1991, and died in Tel Aviv on September 6, 2001.
