Orson Welles was an American director, writer, producer and actor whose debut feature, Citizen Kane, is widely ranked among the most influential films ever made for its deep focus cinematography, unconventional narrative structure and technical ambition. He worked across theatre, radio and film for more than four decades, and his 1938 radio adaptation of The War of the Worlds remains one of the most famous broadcasts in American radio history.
