Ray Eames, born Ray-Bernice Alexandra Kaiser (1912 to 1988), was an American artist and designer who worked across a wide range of media. In creative partnership with her husband Charles Eames she made groundbreaking contributions to architecture, graphic design, textile design, film and furniture; the Eames Office they led together is best known for furniture that remains in production today. During her lifetime she received less credit for this shared work than she has since been given in art and design literature, museum exhibitions and documentary films.
