Taleides Painter

Painters

The Taleides Painter was an Attic vase painter of the black-figure style, active in the second half of the sixth century BC, whose conventional name comes from his close cooperation with the potter Taleides, many of whose vases he painted. He also worked for the potter Timagoras. The Metropolitan Museum of Art holds a terracotta amphora of Type B, dated about 540 to 530 BCE and bought through the Joseph Pulitzer Bequest in 1947, which it credits under the name Taleides. The atlas records the painter as the named maker of that jar, listed in the divinity atlas among its mythological images.
