Playwrights of the Theatre of the Absurd and its forerunners, whose twentieth century plays show meaningless or illogical situations. A playwright belongs here when the cited article links the person to the Absurd. It excludes Realist dramatists. Their plays, written after the war and in its shadow, use circular dialogue, waiting and failed communication to suggest a world without fixed meaning, and a playwright is placed here only where the cited article links the person to the Absurd.
