African and Postcolonial Dramatists

Playwrights of Africa and the postcolonial world, whose plays took up apartheid, independence, language and cultural identity and made the stage a place where the history of colonial rule was argued. The group includes a Nigerian playwright who won the Nobel Prize in Literature, a South African playwright whose work opposed apartheid, and a Saint Lucian poet and dramatist whose plays and poems answer the legacy of empire.
