French Classical Dramatists

Playwrights of French classical theatre of the seventeenth century, who followed the rules of unity and decorum in tragedy and comedy. A playwright belongs here when the cited article or its infobox names classicism or neoclassical tragedy. It excludes Romantic and later dramatists. Their tragedies and comedies in verse or prose followed ideas of decorum and the unities of time, place and action, were staged at court and in Paris theatres, and set a pattern European theatre copied for generations.
