Yasmina Reza

Yasmina Reza, born May 1, 1959, in Paris, is a French playwright, actress, novelist and screenwriter known for satirical works examining contemporary middle-class life. She is best known for two plays: Art (1994), her breakthrough work, which premiered in Paris, was translated and performed in more than thirty languages, and won the Moliere Award for Best Author and the Tony Award for Best Play in 1998, and God of Carnage (2006), which won the Tony Award for Best Play in 2009 and was adapted into a 2011 film directed by Roman Polanski. Her plays are marked by sharp wit and a focus on interpersonal conflict within ordinary settings, and beyond drama she has also written novels and screenplays.
