Nativity with Saint Francis and Saint Lawrence

Nativity with Saint Francis and Saint Lawrence is a 1609 oil painting of the birth of Jesus by the Italian painter Caravaggio, originally made for the Oratory of Saint Lawrence in Palermo. It was stolen from the oratory in 1969 and has never been recovered; investigators believe it passed through the hands of the Sicilian Mafia in the years afterward and may still survive somewhere in hiding. A reproduction made using digital scanning technology by the Factum Foundation now hangs over the oratory's altar in its place.
