The Wounded Angel

The Wounded Angel is a painting by the Finnish symbolist artist Hugo Simberg, depicting a wounded, blindfolded angel carried on a stretcher by two boys through a bleak landscape. It is one of Simberg's best known works and was voted Finland's national painting in a 2006 poll by the Ateneum art museum, and ranked the second most important painting in Finnish art in a separate 2013 poll by Suomen Moneta.
